Meet Alyssa Lakoduk, RoleCall’s New Director of Strategy & Community Onboarding

RoleCall is growing! We are so thrilled to welcome Alyssa Lakoduk to our team. Alyssa will be spearheading the next phase of our beloved statewide talent attraction project in North Dakota, Find the Good Life, ensuring that the state’s talent ecosystem is thriving and that we’re creating effective and supportive paths into North Dakota communities for new residents via the Relocation Help Desk. Alyssa will also be leading WayFinders, RoleCall’s community onboarding program that helps chambers of commerce and economic development organizations activate current residents and get newcomers connected and engaged. This is a really exciting and key role on our team, and Alyssa is the perfect person take both of these programs to new heights.

Learn more about Alyssa in her own words below!

Name: Alyssa Lakoduk

Title: Director of Strategy & Community Onboarding

Location: Fargo, North Dakota!

Family: Husband: Nick. Son: William. Dog: Daisy.

What’s the best nickname you’ve ever been given?
Assyla (I had a friend in high school get bored in study hall and decided to see what all of our friends’ names would be backwards. Mine was the only one that transitioned to an actual nickname.)

How cute is little William?!

Describe your personality in one sentence.

I would describe myself as thoughtful, witty, and kind. In a more fun metaphor, I am like a martini: a martini can fit any flavor profile, and be fun and sophisticated at the same time. It can be dry or full of flavor. They are adaptable (they change depending on what I am mixed with), intentional (need just the right amount of all the ingredients to make it right), witty (they’ll hit you when you don’t expect it). Martinis also don’t follow rules like describing themselves in a single sentence.

What makes you most excited about your new role (hehe) at RoleCall?

I am really excited to work directly with Find the Good Life and help make this project as successful as it can be! I love that I can play a small role in helping people find a home in North Dakota. I also am pretty jazzed about WayFinders. Champions for a community live beyond the walls of the chamber/EDO/CVB and WayFinders creates the opportunity to let those individuals sell their communities to newcomers!

What's the most unexpectedly awesome place you've ever been?

This is a really tough question, because I feel like I live in one of these places! It has given me the mindset to never expect to be unimpressed by a place and find the fun things wherever we go. I feel like I had the biggest surprise on my trips to Iowa, specifically Iowa City and Des Moines. [Editor’s note: Tim is screaming with glee while reading this.]

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?

Hogwarts. My first trip to the Wizarding World, we met this retired woman who works in the candy shop and told us that every day, she gets there before the sun comes up to start baking and she gets to watch the sunrise over Hogwarts everyday. I will live that life. [Editor’s note: Winona is screaming with glee while reading this.]

Describe your perfect Saturday: where are you, what are you doing, what's the weather like, what are you eating, etc?

Scenario 1: Lake Darling, MN. It will be an 80 degree day, but the morning is only 65. I am having a cup of coffee on the deck watching the waves slowly roll to the shore.

Scenario 2: It’s a Saturday in Fargo and Nick did early morning wake up with William. I wake up to the sounds of little feet chasing Daisy around the kitchen and giggles. After a delightful breakfast (before William decides to start feeding his food to Daisy), a babysitter comes and Nick and I sneak away for a morning of golf. I will have two mimosas on the course.

Here at RoleCall, we're almost as passionate about karaoke as we are about economic development, so tell us: what's your favorite song to belt out at full volume?!

I once had a dumb guy try to voice coach me during Karaoke at the Bowler and I have not stepped on stage since. [Editor’s note: RoleCall’s new mission is to find this man, avenge Alyssa, and get her back on stage.] Give me a show tune though and I will definitely sing it in the car!

Thanks so much, Alyssa! We are SO thrilled to have you on the team and can’t wait to see the magic we make together. Want to connect with Alyssa? She’d love to chat with you about statewide talent ecosystems, why North Dakota is awesome, and how chambers of commerce can play a key role in talent attraction and retention. Find her on LinkedIn or shoot her a message at alyssa@rolecall.pro.
